Mayor Ballard Presents $4 Million in Crime Prevention Grant Awards

On June 8, Mayor Greg Ballard and city officials distributed funds to the 2010 Community Crime Prevention Grant Program recipients. Over the course of the year, $4 million dollars will be awarded to community organizations which have implemented programs aimed at deterring crime. The goal of the City's program is to reduce criminal activity through funding initiatives that fulfill documented gaps in existing services and promote partnerships among existing institutions and programs that reach and engage neighborhoods residents. The award recipients were chosen through the combined efforts of the City County Council's Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee, the Crime Prevention Advisory Committee, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, and the City of Indianapolis.
