The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) is a youth and family development program of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The program is designed to use the life skills learned in music instruction to engage youth in activities that discourage at-risk behaviors and keep them committed to staying in school.

What MYO Means to Me...by George Gemelas

Dear MYO Teachers and Staff,

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be a part of the MYO family. Being in MYO grants me the ability to be one with my humanity, to realize God's goal for human creation: love. 

During my time in MYO, I always knew I was partaking in something special. However, the reason for being so special only just dawned when Ms. Perry called me tonight. What makes MYO unique is that it both accepts me unconditionally and loves me unconditionally, something invaluable and rare in our world. Despite what I want or who I choose to define myself as, I know I can count on MYO to support and love me. For that, I sincerely thank you.

In the future, I look to give back to MYO and the world in order to try and recreate the lobe and care MYO has provided me.
