The Primary Goal of MYO

Part 2 of Get to Know the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra

“From the beginning, my vision was to teach an appreciation for the arts, to facilitate communication within a family, and to demonstrate how playing music together can be a transforming experience.” - Betty Perry

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra was founded in 1995 by Betty Perry. In 2008 the ISO brought MYO into its family of programs and outreach activities.

Today, MYO is offered to students in kindergarten through 12th grade and family adult members in Indianapolis.  A network of 27 professional musicians and teachers oversees the participation of over 200 students and their families.
